(Written By Bob Edmonds to his prayer support team regarding our trip to Sonjo, Tanzania, June 2016)
This has been the most amazing trip of my life. It will take time to digest it all, but I wanted to give you a sense of some of what happened.
First and foremost I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers. As I have been warned, please don't stop for two more weeks. What the Holy Spirit did through us has stirred up a spiritual hornets nest and we all need extra protection.
After 28 hours in airports and airplanes we arrived in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. We then traveled by Land Cruiser 21 hours to get to Digodigo, Tanzania, where we operated out of for the next 5 days. For perspective it took 9 hours to go the last 200 miles. I believe we were 10 miles past the middle of nowhere. (Act 1:8) But you shall receive power, the Holy Spirit coming upon you. And you shall be witnesses to Me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
I believe this was one of the "ends of the earth".
Someone said "why go to Africa, when your neighbor needs the Lord". One reason is because they are SOOO hungry for Jesus. So many times we shared the gospel through our interpreters and when asked if they wanted Jesus in their hearts and lives they were ready and became believers. We were working with the local pastors so there is a system of support and teaching in place for follow up and to build the Christian community, especially since this village was a center for demonic worship. I believe the local pastors were so glad we came as it encouraged them, lifted them up and grew their communities. We were part of a crusade that lasted four days. There where a number of healings and spiritual deliverances.. I shared the gospel with Marcus, who had been snake bitten six days before and unable to get out of bed, couldn't stand, hardly move his wrists. After he believed in Jesus, we prayed for his healing, and then left. A half hour later, one of the pastors came and told us he was walking around the village. The next day we saw him, walking and pain free. Hopefully he will be instrumental in leading both of his wives and 10 of his 11 children to the Lord, (one girl is already a Christian).
We had just led a woman to the Lord, in her round hut, made out of sticks, mud and thatched roof, with the goats and cows in the middle of the "yard", and were walking down this dusty road with donkeys and goats along side of us, and I felt like it could have been 2000 years ago, because not much has changed. I watched a women doing her laundry with a bucket and a rock and every few minutes she would have to stop and throw rocks at the goats who where trying to eat her clothes, And I complain about the line at the check out counter.
As we left we spent a day in the Serengeti, one of the largest animal preserves in the world and a day in the Ngorongoro crater, which has the largest concentration of animals in the world. God is an amazing God and His creation is hard to comprehend. It makes you appreciate His unlimited creativity and power.
I believe God was pleased with what we did there and I thank you again for your prayers and encouragement as you where all a part of this. I tell you, I am having trouble writing this as the tears keep coming.
God is so good,
Bob. (or Bobu as the villagers called me as they couldn't get Bob).
